Thank you Lansing for everyone who came to Michigan Technology Network’s 3rd annual e-cycle event on February 27th. From the community electronic donations MITN was able to donate electronics to local community organizations. The total amount of electronic waste collected at the e-cycle event to be recycled totaled 3,450 pounds. Items that were recycled included televisions, computers, monitors, and peripherals; VCRs, cell phones, and other electronic items.
E-waste represents 2 percent of America's trash in landfills, but it equals 70 percent of overall toxic waste. One of the core values of MITN is community, including service to the community. By properly recycling and disposing of electronics, we successfully diverted harsh chemicals and potential carcinogens from polluting our community’s clean air and water!
Thank You Sponsors and Volunteers
This event would not have been possible without all of the volunteers who came out to work the event. The volunteers helped to unload equipment from vehicles and separate the different electronic materials to be recycled. The event would also not be possible without the Event sponsors; ASK, Friedland Industries, Two Men and a Truck, and Devon Self Storage. Both the volunteers and the sponsors helped to insure the e-Cycle event be successful.
Thank you again to our wonderful volunteers and event sponsors: ASK, Friedland Industries, Two Men and a Truck, and Devon Self Storage. Your contributions made it another successful MITN e-Cycle Event!
