Fellowships

One of our initiatives is to promote the growth of skilled IT workers in this region. Continued education and investment in new skills is key to personal and professional development. With this in mind, we offer the MITN Fellowship.

Fellowship Details

MITN is working with four of our member organizations, Lansing Community College, Michigan State University, New Horizons Learning Center and Career Quest for this fellowship.  Selected recipients may use their fellowship award for an IT related class at their preferred institution participating in the program.

Up to two recipients will be awarded a fellowship annually.

2011 Recipients

  • Jennifer Defore
    • Testimony - Winning one of the two 2011 MITN Fellowship awards was a great honor for me and one which put me in contact with a warm and caring network of professionals in all spheres of the technology industry in the Lansing area. The necessity of providing a clear plan for the funds upon winning helped me to crystallize my academic goals for myself and for my future.  Being selected for this award from among my peers and by my peers is something I am grateful for as it has allowed me a greater freedom to pursue my continuing education with far less concern about how I might pay for it. I’ve already put the award money to use for a summer class at Lansing Community College in pursuit of an Associate degree in the Computer Programmer/Analyst track. The support and interest in my academic progress from my award sponsors has also been welcome and heartening. Beyond merely winning the award money, it has been a pleasure to be associated with an organization that is not only interested in helping to fund technology education in the community, but which cares about it as well.
