Workforce Development

There are several ways that we aim to aid our members with workforce development.

Educational Events - Sharpen your skills and keep on top of technology!

MITN-Lansing offers a wide range of events that educate and in turn help to develop the Greater Lansing Workforce with the knowledge gained at these events. We add value through:

  • Increasing Knowledge Sharing
  • Keeping You Up-To-Date on Lansing Area IT Happenings
  • Exposure to NEW Facilities, NEW Training/College/University Programs, NEW Companies, NEW Technologies

Networking - Get connected and learn more about what's going on in our community.

We have mixers every other month (February, April, June, August, October & December) where people can mix and mingle.  You can expect:

  • To Be in Good Company  - Mingle with other Lansing Area IT Professionals that Speak Your Language
  • An Open Minded Group, Willing to Share Ideas, Help Solve Problems & Bounce Ideas Off Each Other
  • Insight on the Latest technology Gadgets, Blogs,  Jokes & Developments

MITN mixers are for just that – mingling and networking. Come to the next mixer to hear what others are up to and to share what cool things you’ve been doing in IT!

Helping Connect Employers with Employees and Student Workers

Our events are for peers in technology to connect. Although, pure networking for the sake of finding a job is not the purpose of our events, there are many people who have been connected to jobs by meeting people at our events.  MITN has had a long history of workforce development in Lansing and offer direct access to:

  • Local Private/Public Company and Government IT Managers & Hiring Associates
  • Internship & Apprenticeship Coordinators from LCC &  MSU etc.
  • Representatives from IT Specialty Training Facilities - Career Quest & New Horizons
  • IT Specific Recruiters from Local Agencies for Contract & Consulting Work

MITN has established a LinkedIn Group – Michigan Technology Network, Subgroup Michigan Technology Network Lansing which offers additional benefits:

  • Discussions Related to Lansing Area Technology Consideration – Promote Events, Pose Questions, Share Ideas/Information
  • Employers Post Open Positions for Local Talent in the ‘Jobs’ section

Providing Resources for Michigan's Tech Workforce

We have several MITN Committees that meet as creative incubators for brainstorming ideas, planning events, and developing outreach. Our Workforce Development Committee (WDC) works with LCC, MSU, and Lansing area companies to brainstorm what MITN can do to help people in (and looking for) Tech jobs.  If you are interested in joining the WDC or have any ideas / advice please contact Jim Beiermeister at contact@RMCagency.com or (517) 999-5410
